Foundation/Trust
A Foundation
is a legal entity. It is the legal form which is mostly used in Liechtenstein for asset protection and estate planning.
The Trust
is not a corporate entity but a legal form which is an adaptation of the anglo-saxon trust. It is mostly used for the same objects as the Foundation, the only difference between them being the legal organization.
The following survey shows the common characteristics of both the Foundation and the Trust. It is not a comparative legal study and abstains from references to specific regulations of the law.
